England 1938
Artista conceptual veterano, Iain Baxter&, ha estado al frente de la vanguardia artística contemporanea durante 40 años. Entre sus muchas innovaciones, Baxter&, ha sido pionero en adoptar su propia asociacion: en 1966, formó el N.E. Thing Company. Sus primeros trabajos fotográficos - finales de los años 50 - y sus primeras prácticas artísticas cimentaron los orígenes de la fotografía conceptual y el trabajo fotográfico basado en el texto. Ha sido profesor en la University of British Columbia, en el Alberta College of Art and Design and York University, y actualmente es profesor emérito en la Universidad de Windsor donde imparte clases desde 1988. Ha recibido numerosos premios como el del Governor General’s Award in Visual and Media Arts en 2004. Su trabajo como artista y como fundador de N.E. Thing Co. se ha expuesto en instituciones como: el Museum of Modern Art, el Museo Guggenheim, el Museo de New Art, Detroit, la galería de arte de Ontario, la galería de arte de Vancouver, el F.R.A.C. Museo de arte en Bretagne, Francia, Gemeentemusem en La Haya, Holanda y la Galería Nacional de Canadá.
